About Son's Island
Son's Island is a private waterfront getaway on Lake McQueeney in Seguin, TX, just a short drive from San Antonio, Austin, and the greater Texas Hill Country. Whether you're planning a family daycation, a milestone birthday, a corporate retreat, or a small-group reunion, our team handles the details so you can focus on the people you came with. We've spent years refining this experience: every cabana, kayak, paddle board, and picnic table is positioned with intention so you get more time on the water and less time wrangling logistics.
Son's Island is the flagship Son's Getaways property — a private island on Lake McQueeney with 23 individually themed cabanas, a swim-up bar, kayaks, paddle boards, and a quiet stretch of shoreline you simply can't get from a public beach. Day visits run from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, giving you a full day on the water without the crowds. Each cabana includes entry for up to 8 guests, a private dock, a BBQ grill, and a picnic table, so groups can spread out and settle in.
Most guests come from San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Seguin — typically a 30 to 75 minute drive. Pack a cooler with food and drinks (we don't sell food on the island), bring sunscreen and towels, and we'll handle the rest. If you'd rather extend your stay, ask about overnight glamping tents and cabin rentals at our sister properties on the Guadalupe, San Marcos, and Cibolo Creek.
