 Son’s Island is an actual Island located approx. 11 miles east of New Braunfels in Lake Placid which is part of the Guadalupe River.  At Son’s Island you can rent lakeside Cabanas with private docks by the day, evening or stay overnight in one of our All Inclusive Tents! You can also kayak, paddleboard, play beach volleyball, swim, slide and more!  We are located at 110 Lee St. Seguin, TX 78155 which is a 15 minute drive from New Braunfels. 

On average from $99 - $245 per day which includes entry for 8 people. Prices vary depending on the day and season, with weekdays during the fall or spring being the least expensive and holidays weekends in the summer being the most. Day Cabana Rentals: 10:30 AM  - 6:30 PM 

Evening rentals:  7:30 PM - 10:30 PM 

All Inclusive Tent Camping: 7:30 PM - 10:00 AM.

PLEASE NOTE: Cabana rentals are for day use only unless you have purchased/added the overnight glamping option or evening cabana rental.  Overnight  All-Inclusive Tent Camping reservations DO NOT include a daytime cabana.  You must make a reservation for each night and each day you would like to spend with us. 

You can have a maximum of 15 people per cabana, each additional person, after 8, is $10 - $25 extra per person on average depending on the day & season. Holiday prices are more.  Kids two and under are free and not counted.

Swimming, fishing (bring your own gear), beach volleyball, boat docking (you may bring your own boat and dock at no additional charge)  water slide, cornhole, resting in one of the many hammocks on the island and barbecuing!

There are no life guards on duty,  no fence or barrier restricting persons from entering the water and no depth signs. Under water hazards may exist and swimming is at your own risk. Renter is responsible for the safety and well-being of all guests and is responsible for keeping a close watch on all swimmers as well as non-swimmers or persons who may enter or accidentally enter the water. Should the Renter/Responsible party be absent from the Property for any length of time, it is his/her duty to designate another person within his/her party for this responsibility.

No, you can rent a kayak or paddleboard to keep at your cabana and use at your leisure or buy a watercraft wrist band that gives you unlimited use of all our kayaks and paddle boards in 45 minute sessions from the kayak station.

Beach towels, charcoal, lighter fluid, BBQ utensils, ice, ice chest, favorite drinks and food, bug repellent and a smile – it’s time to have some fun!

Yes! No need to bring a boat as we have a 100 foot long wooden bridge that you can drive a car across.

We have parking on the island, but we limit the parking to two cars for each cabana. If you have additional cars, we now have a lot nearby with golf cart shuttle. The cost is $20 per vehicle. 

Yes, you are welcome to bring any of these items yourself. 

No, we love pets but unfortunately our insurance does not allow them to be on the Island.

There are no monster or small alligators in Lake Placid. Anywhere in Texas you can find snakes and spiders and Son’s Island is no exception though we don’t have more here than other places. When you are outdoors, it is always best to use caution and avoid weedy and heavily brushed areas and stay to lighted paths at night. We have never had a guest bitten by a snake and have had tens of thousands of visitors to Son’s Island.

No, we are on a constant level lake. In 2018 the water level did drop due to work the government was doing on the dam, but the water level is back to normal.

Son’s Island is an actual Island in Lake Placid which is fed by the Guadalupe River. As with any natural body of water, the color does change depending on the amount of rain, sunlight etc. After a hard rain or flood the water can look muddy brown. If we haven’t had a hard rain in a while the particles settle, and the water turns a beautiful blue!

Son’s Island is just under 4 acres and has almost a mile of lakefront. The depth varies depending on where you are at and range from 2’ – 12’ deep. The bottom varies as well, some areas have a rocky bottom, others a muddy bottom.

We do not filter our reviews at all. I’m not sure exactly how many 5-star reviews we have but I’d imagine for each bad review we have about a 100 5-star reviews. Some people you can’t please no matter what.  Everyone else seems to have a blast at Son’s Island!

Absolutely no glass, fireworks, loud music or pets; please refer to our rental agreement for full list of restrictions.

Yes, life jackets must be worn no matter the age.

Yes, we have changing rooms located on the property. 

We have 2 air conditioned trailers with 9 bathrooms as well as numerous port-a-potties located around the island 

Yes, each cabana has its own charcoal BBQ pit. Please be extremely careful to keep fire away from the roof as the palm leaves are extremely flammable. Also be sure not to dump coals around the landscaping.

No, but there are many great restaurants in the area and we know Papa Johns in Seguin delivers to the Island, as we order from there occasionally.

We now have ice at the Island!  If, we run out, the next closest place to get ice is at the gas station located at the corner of 78 and 1620, it is only 2 miles from the island. HEB, Walmart and a variety of other stores are located in Seguin near the corner of HWY 90 and 123, which is only 5.5 miles away from the island.

Yes, there is a public boat ramp directly under I-10 where it crosses Lake Placid. It is located less than a mile away from the island by car or boat.

Yes, though each cabana has its own dock we try to limit boat docking to the larger docks closest to the main part of the lake to keep the rear side of the island swimmer and kayak friendly. Cabanas #B-10# and #B-11 as well as #C-1 through #C-6 are best for those wanting to bring their own boat as they are located on the deeper side of the island. WARNING: THERE ARE MANY ROCKS LOCATED IN FROM OF THE ISLAND.

-Less than 7 days notice prior to the booking date: No refund or credit

Son's Island is a rain or shine property. Local weather conditions are routinely monitored and Rainchecks are called by 12:30pm the day of. In the event of inclement weather and continuous rainfall, guests will be contacted by the Reservations Department.

By purchasing or adding on a  All-Inclusive Tent Camping  setup rental, you and your group (up to 4 people per Tent rented) get to stay overnight on the Island in a tent we set up for you!  

Glamping is similar to the All-Inclusive Tent Camping but comes with a nicer 16' Bell Tent & AIR-CONDITIONING, an extra 1 twin bed and includes overnight entry for 5 instead of 4.

Camping: Overnight entry for 4 people, 

Glamping: Overnight entry for 5 people

Camping: 14′ x 10′ tent, two cots with foam queen sized mattresses, an extension cord, a bed side table, two commercial fans and two lanterns. 

Glamping:  16′ Bell tent, two cots with foam queen sized mattresses, 1 cot with a twin sized foam amtress, an extension cord, a bed side table, two commercial fans and two lanterns. 

With Both: Guests get use of an evening cabana during the camping hours.

We do all the work you have all the fun!

No, to make the experience as hassle free for you and to keep the Island  looking as nice as possible, we only rent our tents.

No, due to limited space and parking we do not allow early check ins for our Tent Campers.

No, the evening rental is included in the All Inclusive Tent Camping or Glamping option.  While the evening cabana is included with your tent camping reservation, it does NOT include the use of a daytime cabana.  These reservations are only from 7:30  p.m. and 10 a.m. only. 

No, but once onsite, you will be given an occupied tag to mark the specific tent you want in your section. Your tent may or may not be right next to your cabana but you are guaranteed it will be in your section area.
