Son's Island is an actual private, 3.5-acre island on Lake Placid
The perfect venue for birthdays, family or school reunions, company parties, retreats and more! You can rent the entire island, one cabana, or one of our four different cabana sections. Son's Island is located only 45 minutes from San Antonio and 20 minutes from New Braunfels. Featuring 55 thatch roofed cabanas, each holding up to 15 guests with private docks, swimming ladders, plenty of parking, and fun built-in activities.

Good to Know
Parking & shuttles
75 on-island parking spots, plus 75 more within nearby walking distance. For bigger groups, we can shuttle guests on party buses from a parking area just a few miles away — just ask.
Bring a food trailer
While there's no kitchen on the island, we do have many BBQ grills. Larger groups often bring their own food truck or catering trailer right onto the island.
BYO drinks
You're welcome to bring your own drinks, including alcohol. Just no glass containers anywhere on the island. Coolers are welcome too.
No lifeguards on duty
Swimming and water activities are at your own risk — there are no lifeguards on duty. For groups, we're glad to help you arrange certified lifeguards and/or security, or you can hire your own.
A Cabana Rental is Required to Enter Son's Island

Rent a single cabana, a section of the island, or the entire island. One flat rate per cabana — taxes, fees, and add-ons are billed separately.

Every cabana includes entry for 8 guests, and up to 15 are welcome. Each guest past 8 is simply the cabana's day rate ÷ 8 (about $12 on weekdays, $19 on Sundays, $31 on Saturdays). Example: a Saturday cabana ($249) for 12 guests = $249 + 4 × ($249 ÷ 8) = $373.50.
Add-on: all-day kayak + paddleboard wristband $24.99 per person.

You don't have to rent the whole island. Reserve any one of our four sections as a private group block.
Every cabana rental includes entry for 8 guests and can accommodate up to 15. Need more than 8? Additional guests are charged at the per-person rate (cabana price ÷ 8) for each guest over 8.

Best if you're bringing your own watercraft (Sea-Doos, etc.). A boat rental option is available nearby, and we can arrange to take your group out on the lake as an optional add-on.
Also on the main lake, and closest to the volleyball court, the stage, and the central grassy commons with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. Great if you're bringing extra guests who'll gather in the middle of the island.
Our newest and largest cabanas, set right by the bridge as you enter the island. They sit on a calm, sheltered stretch of water with floating docks — perfect for boat pickups — plus Wi-Fi, propane grills, and TVs in select cabanas.
The most beautiful part of the island. Cabanas line the main lake and wrap around the back side, close to the frog slide, rope swing, and a great swimming area.

The island holds up to 825 guests. Beyond your cabana, the central commons gives big groups room to spread out — picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, a stage, and a large grassy area where we can even set up tents for a big group meal or program.
